Axiom, GeneFab Partner to Advance Therapeutic Pipeline

The move expands Axiom’s manufacturing and clinical development capabilities.

Editor’s Take: Partnerships like this often serve to build the manufacturing infrastructure necessary to support the continued advance of therapeutic candidates.

Axiom Biosciences announced a strategic partnership with GeneFab aimed at continuing to advance Axiom’s therapeutic pipeline.

Axiom, a clinical-stage biotechnology company formerly known as Cytonus Therapeutics, develops next-generation regenerative therapies and targeted biologics. The company has built its pipeline through advanced cellular engineering and translational science.

GeneFab, meanwhile, is a cell and gene therapy (CGT) CDMO. Founded in 2023, GeneFab advances current good manufacturing practice (cGMP)-compliant CGTs. Its integrated technology platform includes synthetic biology, in-vivo vectors, and autologous and allogeneic ex-vivo cell therapy production.

How Axiom–GeneFab Collab Will Work

In this collaboration, GeneFab will provide development and manufacturing support that focuses on end-to-end, scalable, reproducible production processes. Not only that, but these processes will be designed to meet quality standards and regulatory requirements of clinical-stage development.

For Axiom, the partnership expands its manufacturing and clinical development capabilities. Axiom says building manufacturing infrastructure supports upcoming activities and continued progression for its lead therapeutic candidates.

Therapeutic Pipeline from Kids to Adults

Right now, that pipeline primarily involves therapies in neurology, inflammation, and regenerative medicine. Axiom is currently moving programs forward ranging from treatments for rare pediatric conditions to adult ischemic stroke.

With this agreement, the company now has an experienced development partner across manufacturing operations.

Axiom Founder and CEO Remo Moomiaie-Qajar, MD, said the right manufacturing and clinical infrastructure is crucial to advancing therapeutic programs.

“GeneFab brings specialized development and manufacturing expertise through this partnership,” Moomiaie-Qajar said. “[This partnership] will help strengthen Axiom’s ability to advance our pipeline through its next stages of development efficiently.”
